Thread: Secondary Float Bowl Flooding

    Default Secondary Float Bowl Flooding

Lately I've had an issue with the secondary float bowl (4160 / 600cfm) flooding when I try to start my truck. The first time, It appeared to be a sticky inlet needle valve and cleared up when I cleaned it. Got home and replaced the inlet needle valve with new checked the float for leaks, and set fuel level just below the hole. Ran fine and then a few days later tried to start the truck and the same thing happened. Seemed to clear itself up and hasn't happened for a couple more weeks until I fueled up this morning. Was running great, got gas and within 2 miles of driving it flooded again. Fuel filter is new and clean. I'm wondering if I've filled the fuel tank too full and created a fuel pressure problem? (filled it to the brim this morning). Have not checked fuel pressure yet but normally runs fine. Don't think it's a percolation problem because it did this twice when cold (hard to start and then trying to stall out from flooding). I've heard that high fuel pressure can cause inlet valve to stay open but wouldn't the primary flood also? It's only the secondary. Any ideas?

If it's only the secondary, my guess needle & seat issue. May have dirt in the bowl.

Or a fuel hose deteriorating between the fuel filter and fuel bowl.
May God's grace bless you in the Lord Jesus Christ.
