Thread: Touchscreen problem

    Default Touchscreen problem

Installed touchscreen on new EFI Dominator setup and screen does not turn on. Checked all wiring and everything seems fine. Is there something in the Dominator software to activate?

    5 wires:
    1 battery +
    1 battery -
    1 switched 12V
    2 CAN Bus

The CAN Bus wiring should look exactly like figure 3, on page 3 of the Touchscreen LCD manual:
    http://documents.holley.com/199r10524rev4.pdf (TSLCD Manual)

Which ECU firmware version are you running?
You must have ECU firmware version 330 or higher for the touchscreen to function properly.
Some HC (High Capacity) SD cards can also cause problems with the TSLCD.

    Software & Firmware Versions:
Software: click "Help" tab (top toolbar) & "About Holley EFI".
Firmware: click "Sync With ECU" & "Get ECU Info" (Key-on/USB connected).
The latest software & firmware can be downloaded here:
    https://www.holley.com/support/resou...Fuel_Injection (Holley EFI Technical Library)

Is there something in the Dominator software to activate?
No, there's nothing to program in the EFI software.
May God's grace bless you in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you for your quick reply. My firmware version is 397. Only thing I haven't double checked is CAN wiring (hard to get to in dash). Would this cause it to not turn on at all? Is it possible to plug the CAN harness in backwards? This thing is dead! Thanks again for your help.

I don't know. Ensure the CAN Bus terminator is plugged into the end of the harness. It has a resistor crimped & heat shrinked on.

Is it possible to plug the CAN harness in backwards?
Again, I don't know. It should look exactly like figure 3, on page 3 of the Touchscreen LCD manual:

Verified the entire CAN harness, everything is as it should be. Reseated all connections. I also checked the SD card and there are no files on it (not sure if there is supposed to be). Maybe just a bad unit. Purchased over a year ago finally got everything put together. Hope I don't get stuck with it if it is bad! At least the motor is finally running.

Sorry to hear that. I guess you need to contact Holley Performance Products.

    I just had another thought.
On a cold winter morning, my TSLCD once locked up at -5°F (it wouldn't turn on).
I simply disconnected & reconnected my 3-wire power harness connector, and it worked.
I guess I'm wondering if you tried momentarily disconnecting the power wires from your TSLCD?
May God's grace bless you in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yes I have, but not while powered on, just while troubleshooting. My connector has 5 wires, Ground (black), Battery 12V (red), Switched 12V (white) and the two orange wires the CAN harness plugs into. I was also thinking trying to upgrade all firmware to see if that would wake it up.

No, I'm not referring to the connector on back of the unit.
I meant the three loose wires (red, black & white).
I made a Weather-Pack connector for these wires.
