Thread: Not making power after running out of gas.

Ya, I know how they work. Half my cars have EFI systems. Just didn’t know if this system still fed off a bowl or was under pressure like all other systems. I get that.
So the bowl “looking” parts on this system act like a fuel rial on my Hellcat, Mustang, STI, and not like the bowls on my 440 Dart, K5 Blazer and my '63 Cadillac.
If the problem was air, it'd be out after half a tank anyway. Probably a pump, too consistent to be crap in the tank. Can I add a photo?

Found the pump it’s an in-line pump. Looks like part number 12-920 on the Holley website. I want to run the best pump I can. I don’t even know what Sniper I have. It’s looks like a Holley 750. It’s a 350 small block, probably mild cam. It was set up for Zex nitrous, but never used.

The Holley 550-510K Sniper EFI Master Kit instruction manual states it's this one: https://www.holley.com/products/fuel...mps/parts/2225 (MSD 2225 Fuel Pump)

Thank you so much. Looks like one side of this pump uses a clamp. I have aluminum fittings on both sides. I don't know if the outlet side barb can be remove or if there's an option for a pump that I can use the fitting already there. Thanks, Larry

Default Car is running out of gas at 40 MPH.

I can’t get the car to run correctly. Runs OK to 40 or 50, then runs dry. Just swapped the pump, cleaned the tank, and swapped the filter. Can my fuel map be off?

Overlay the datalog onto your Config File, and pay special attention to the center paragraph in blue print:

Ensure the Target A/F Ratio table is properly programmed for your engine. Ensure the ECU is "Learning" (Learn Table LINK).
Scroll through the datalog to the problem area. Then look exactly where this happens on the Base Fuel & Timing Tables. Scrutinize:
RPM, MAP, MAT, TPS, CTS, IAC, Target AFR, AFR Left, CL Comp, Ignition Timing, Duty Cycle, Fuel Flow, Fuel Pressure & Battery. When the engine is tuned & running well, you should decrease the Closed Loop & Learned Compensation Limits % to lock in a good tune.

Using the Holley Sniper EFI software (LINK), look at where the live cursor moves to during this occurrence, and
manually tune that area of the Base Fuel Table (enrich or lean) & Base Timing Table (optimize ignition timing).

I find the most helpful datalog function, is overlaying the datalog on your Config File.
I'm in the habit of using the datalog Overlay feature every time I review a datalog.
Click on "Datalog" (on the top Toolbar), "Activate Overlay", then "Open Data Log".
You can literally "playback" a recorded event, and watch it as it happened on any screen.
Minimize (shrink) the datalog window, and move it to the bottom of any Config File screen.
Then click & scroll anywhere on the datalog, and watch it playback on your Config File (EFI software).
