I'm having trouble with the MSD ignition in my '71 Charger. Engine starts and runs fine for a while, but then the tach starts jumping, crackling noises coming from the MSD distributor Pro Billet & Blaster 2 coil. You can see in the video that this happens even without the engine running, only with ignition on. It seems to build up voltage and arcing in the distributor or the coil. I measured everything from 8 to 35 volts at the input of the coil while "crackling". After it sits for a while, the problem slowly disappears. Can it be a heat problem of the ignition box or the magnetic pickup? CDI box is an older 6AL 6420. Anyone experienced something similar? Thanks for any help!
