Thread: NOS Pressure Issue

  1. #1

    Default NOS Pressure Issue

We hooked up a Holley 554-104 0-1600 psi sensor to our nitrous main line. Setup a gauge on the dash. Monitored a mechanical gauge to the dash gauge, heated bottle to raise pressure, then purged off pressure to test the calibration. Everything was good, both reading very close together. Next day, tested car, and noticed the dash gauge reading was off by 20-50 psi, from my Racepak sensor and the small gauge on bottle. So reinstalled the large NOS pressure gauge and verified pressure issue. Has anyone else ran into this? Sensor is mounted to main line, main line attached at bottle and drivers ball valve, not solid mounted, so I would think there shouldn't be any vibration to cause damage.

I'm using a Low Dollar Motorsports 0-1600PSI sensor and it does the same thing. It's usually less than 50 PSI difference from my calibrated gauge, but it hasn't been an issue. I'm using it to activate the bottle heaters and just datalog the pressure drop during a pass.

I was hoping it would work better, so I could remove the calibrated gauge.

Try to rescale it to give more resolution. You're never going to need the 0-500 psi range, nor 1200-1600 range.
