    Default EFI ECU for DIS CNP, MSD cam sync & Carburetor

    Been waiting for HILBORN/HOLLEY to revive the SBF EFI Stacked Fuel Injection system. Spoke with Andy Star and he advised not to stall my build waiting for process to happen. So I'm at a jump off point and have an Air-Gap Manifold and a Pro System built Holley Carb, but it's time to upgrade the Ignition system and get this thing running. Sooner or later I WILL update to a EFI Stacked system. But for now I'd like to run a EFI ECU with a MSD Cam Sync Plug and CNP to handle my Ignition while sporting a Carburetor and WHEN I go to the Stacked EFI then all I should have to do is add just the fuel system, the ignition and ECU will already be in place I hope. I was hoping someone could can help me with understanding if my plan is possible to do a DIS CNP with a Holley EFI ECU running a Carburetor. Thanks for any input.

    I don't see why you couldn't do this. I'd wire everything and leave the injector harness off and rock on. I would even run the WBO2 sensor for carb tuning purposes. You'll be able to do datalogs, which will help dial in the carb. Andrew

    Awesome. So as I'm really an inexperienced EFI user, the only EFI system that has a Rev Limiter like I'd find in a MSD CDI box is the Dominator EFI. Reading the overviews of each, neither the HP or Terminator systems offer Rev Limiter in the overview. And only the Dominator & HP can run CNP Smart Coils. So if I want to run a DIS Smart Coil CNP, it looks like that eliminates Terminator X, leaving my options the Dominator & HP. And if I want a Rev Limiter on top of that, my only choice is Dominator. Am I correct on my assessment?

    No & no. Every Holley EFI system has Rev Limiters in Ignition Parameters (System ICF) or in Rev Limiters (Spark ICF). And yes, the Terminator X is capable of Coil-Near-Plug ignition in the Custom Ignition Parameters, Output Setup (System ICF).

    If you need purchasing help, please contact your Holley EFI dealer. I suggest Chris Myer at EFISystemPro.com or Richard Nedbal (FastManEFI) at EFIExpert.com. Purchasing from either one of the Holley EFI Dealers I suggested is better than buying direct from Holley or an aftermarket store/speed shop. You'll presumably need tech help before & after the sale, and you'll probably save money too.

    They're a small cap design, "plug & play" with Holley EFI, and no need for a modified Firing Order.

    A Dual Sync blank cap is available, if the user decides to convert to Coil-Near-Plug/DIS later (no CDI box).
    Of course, the Dual Sync distributor can also be used as a crank and/or cam sync/oil pump drive unit.

    Thanks Danny. I was hoping the Overview descriptions were not fully accurate. I thought I saw a side by side Comparison chart of All four systems of all the features, but couldn't find it. Thanks for the Dealer references. I'll definitely look into those guys.
