    Default Auto Meter 5292 VSS & Terminator Max

    I’ll be installing this VSS sensor on an AOD transmission running Terminator X Max (Holley 550-943F). Looking at schematics, it looks like I can wire the output of the VSS into pins 14 & 18 of the J4 connector on the transmission wire harness thus freeing up an input I’d normally use. Anyone wire a VSS like this using the transmission input and not the standard input?

    Doesn't the AOD already have a VSS input?

    The factory VSS is a magnetic AC pulse generator aka sin wave so it won't work with the Holley. The Auto Meter part is a Hall-Effect sensor square wave @ 16 PPM. The older Ford still used a mechanical speedo cable, the VSS was for cruise control. I don't know if Holley can except 16 PPM or if the pulse rate has to be higher. I can pin the signal and ground to J4 14 & 18 .

    The pins on J4 are designed to accept a VR speed input, not Hall-Effect.

    I found a gear driven VSS sensor from an AODE that should work, same VR output as the 4R70W. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t need to enable the Speedometer Output on the Transmission ICF in order to datalog the incoming speed signal?

    If operating an electronic speedometer, do so by using the "Speedometer Output Enable" in the Transmission ICF:
