Thread: Terminator X Max VSS

    Default Terminator X Max VSS

Hi. In my Dominator, I can see that there's both Digital Speed/Freq & IPU Speed/Freq but in the Terminator X only the Digital Speed input. Does this mean that I have to use a Hall-Effect sensor for the Terminator X. It’s for vehicle speed. Thanks a lot.

Yes, just like an HP ECU.

You can use a 2-wire sensor with the Terminator X Max. You have to get the J4 connector and enable the Transmission ICF even if you have a manual transmission. On J4, you want to connect the VSS to pins 14 & 18. It is desirable to use a shielded cable for this, but not required. Twisting the wires will help with noise. If you need help with tuning and configuring the VSS, please let me know. Andrew

Sorry, I missed that he has the Terminator X Max which is like a Dominator ECU.

Thanks Andrew. Sorry for late response, just saw your reply now. Think I got the transmission harness when I bought the system, I’ll check. Regards Johan

Danny, so your link for the Dominator is valid for the Temintor X Max as well?

Yes, the Dominator ECU and Terminator X Max ECU function the same way (same main harnesses too).

If you're using a T56 manual transmission with a Terminator X Max, Bowler transmission has a really neat solution that takes care of the reverse lockout solenoid and handles the speed signal by providing two Hall-Effect outputs that can be independently configured.
