Thread: Difference between smart coils?

  1. #1

    Default Difference between smart coils?

Anyone know the difference between these two smart coils?

Part 556-112 seems like the "popular IGN-1A style

Part 82893 seems like the "high power" one?

Anyone know the difference? Is one more reliable than the other?

Since Holley owns MSD, I assume this is bascially the same coil. The size and electrical connections are the same. But the 82893 provides better documentation, especially the Power vs Dwell Table that people have needed.

They're the same coil. Also ignore the "maximum 17V operation" part. Above 17V they just shunt the extra voltage to ground. They still work fine.
