Thread: Terminator X for SBF with EDIS

Default Terminator X for SBF with EDIS

I'm looking into purchasing Terminator X for SBF and I'm confused by differing opinions. I spoke to the Holley guys at Ford Fest and they told me I needed a Dual Sync Distributor. I'd really like to use the crank trigger (Explorer) and 36-1 wheel that's already on the engine and eliminate the distributor/use an Explorer cam sensor to drive the oil pump. I'm open to options, but cost is always a concern. I have an EDIS8 module and wiring harness from a MegaSquirt system I built many years ago. Can I use this with Terminator X? I'm open to using LSx coils, but can I use the crank trigger for timing? Last question, how do I figure out all the part numbers needed so I can finally calculate the total cost of this setup? Thanks in advance and please excuse my ignorance.

No, but there's no guarantee you'll get a reply from another Ford EDIS user.

Yes, I did try to search, but did not find what I was looking for. I did see the thread you refrenced, but thought at the time it was not applicable. I see now that it could be exactly what I needed. I spoke with Holley Tech support today, spoke to a very knowledgeable guy and helped me a lot. He did not recommend trying to use the EDIS or the crank trigger I have due to it being magnetic and not Hall-Effect. Adding the Dual Sync Distributor really adds a lot to the cost and doesn't sound like the way I want to go at this time.

If the EDIS trigger wheel is ferrous steel, then retrofitting to a Hall-Effect sensor shouldn't be too difficult.

Alternate Sensor - stainless steel 12mm x 1.0 (2" length), ferrous steel targets only, 8-20 volts, .030"-.040" gap: Holley 554-124 Hall-Effect Sensor (Instructions).
