Thread: Fox Body Ford IAC

    Default Fox Body Ford IAC

So my Dad & I installed a new system. We followed the instructions to the tee, everything seems to be fine other than having a cold start and idle issue. When the car is driving everything is fine, until the IAC has to its job then the car will stall. My question is I've been told I need to go in with a laptop an change the IAC to a Ford because the handheld won’t set it right. Is this true? Thanks for any help.

Yes. In the Idle ICF - IAC Control, select "5.0L Ford" as the Advanced Idle Control, and "PWM" as the IAC Type.
The default Ford IAC PWM Frequency is 600 Hz, however, users have reported better response with 300 or 400 Hz.
Also select PWM− Output Type in Inputs/Outputs (Idle ICF), and ensure it's assigned in the Pin Map (View Outputs).
It's the end user's responsibility to ensure their Global Configuration File is programmed correctly.

So in other words, I need to change it via a laptop. I don’t wanna buy something if I don’t have to, but I will if I have to.

If the IAC isn't programmed correctly, and you can't access those IAC parameters on the 3.5" TSLCD, then refer to post #2 with a laptop or PC. If you don't have a laptop, see page 26 for SD card to PC and vice-versa: https://documents.holley.com/techlibrary_199r11761.pdf (Terminator X Handheld Tuning & Reference Manual)

The only thing the handheld will let me set is just the type Ford 5.0L, GM LSx, etc., but that’s it as far as the IAC.
