I got a new PC and had to load the latest version of the Sniper PC EFI software. It's several versions newer than what I'd been using (1.2 build 17 versus 1.1 build 3). Will using a newer PC version to adjust my current tune require updating the ECU & handheld? I really don't want to upgrade the ECU and handheld if I can avoid it.

Yep, you'll be forced to upgrade the ECU. Holley doesn't provide a choice on the PC software for the Sniper like they do with HEFI. On the HEFI software you can download V4 or V5 or even earlier versions. Holley allows you to keep an old version with that code, but they don't with the Sniper code. On the Sniper they only provide the latest EFI software on the website so once you download it you have to upgrade to match. If you still have your old PC you might be able to copy over the older PC software, but I'm not sure it'll work unless you really know what you're doing since you have to grab all the related files.

Why not upgrade? The upgrades don't give me any functionality that I need. The new ECU and handheld versions just add support for new products like dual quads, QuadraJet, 2300, XFlow, etc. I have not changed or added a new product so there's no real benefit for my setup. On the other hand there's definitely downside risk of messing things up if you do it wrong. There have been many horror stories on the Forum about that. I often wonder why people actually do the upgrades. you're not getting enhancements to the base features, just support for new stuff that unless you are changing your setup up, you don't really need. At least that is how I interpret the release notes. Thanks for the link to the revision log.'69 Camaro, 400 SBC, ProCharger D1SC

If the executable software installer is in the Sniper EFI files of your old computer, then it can be used to transfer your current software to your new computer.May God's grace bless you in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Anyone having issues saving changes to the datalog graphs with V1.2 build 17? I do a lot of customizing of the charts in the datalogs and this new version will not save them. It errors out every time.'69 Camaro, 400 SBC, ProCharger D1SC

I opened a datalog, made a few changes and then did a Save As and a Save several times with no error to the same file name and to different file names. What are you trying to write the files to? Are you trying to write them to a folder that you don't have Admin rights to or a protected device?
What are your specific key strokes leading to the error and does it display an error message? You might want to try to run the software as an Administrator as a test.
I'm running 1.2 build 17. I went to the config section and added some parameters to a graph. When I exited it asked if I wanted to Save, I did, and no errors.Last edited by GPatrick; 08-22-2020, 06:48 PM.

Did you go back to the graph and see if the changes remained? Sometimes I do not get an error, but the changes do not save. The changes I'm making can be as simple as unchecking the lower box on a parameter so it does not display the range on the Y axis, or changing the parameters range from 0-100 to 0-200. In 1.1 build 3 if I do that, close out of the datalog, then open it back up, the parameter change stays to what it was when I closed the file. In 1.2 build 17, if I change the parameter, close it then go back in it goes back to the default settings. Those cases do not ask for a file "Save". If I edit a "View" to add or remove fields like CL Status, IAC Position it'll ask me to Save when I exit and it will error out.
I've tried saving the Config File in the new software and doing a save as on the datalog (they were built using the old version) and nothing works. These settings are not specific to a particular Config File or datalog anyway though. On the old software I customize the graph views and they stay the same for any datalog that I open. I'm running the latest version of Windows 10 on a new laptop.'69 Camaro, 400 SBC, ProCharger D1SC
