    Default Timing Setup

As I try and tweak my system, do the timing parameters within the software matter if I'm using a stock HEI? I'm moving wires to reduce interference, and trying to get my idle stable (it's always +/- 20 or 30 RPM, and I can't seem to adjust the idle down to 750. It's set at 750 in the EFI software, but the idle screw won't lower it enough. Stock GM 350 crate engine (260 HP), with a 4 speed transmission.

If this isn't an ECU controlled timing application, simply ignore all timing related parameters (and disable Idle Spark control).

Teuf, if the idle screw doesn't control the idle then you have a vacuum leak.

Thanks Dan & Andy. I disabled Idle Spark control, and checked for vacuum leaks. No leaks were found. I did retard my timing, and advance. That did help. Can someone please check out my Config File?

I'll get a datalog sometime this week.

UPDATE: Ran it for a few minutes this evening. I should have let it record longer. Started easier, idle still slightly hunts. It did start easily after running for 5 minutes or so.

Preferably a datalog of it warmed up, at or above 160°F on the coolant temperature sensor reading, unless your problem is cold startup and idle related?

I'll get another datalog, but probably not until Friday.

Attached are my Config File and datalog. Datalog has idle after warming up, and a short drive. Runs better after I retarded the timing.
