Thread: Sniper Timing Control

    Default Sniper Timing Control

Got a question about timing control. Setup timing according to YouTube, 15°, 30°, 45°. Static Timing at 15° says that's there until about 2500 RPM and then starts advancing on harmonic balancer above that RPM. Question, is that normal?

It's normal until you correct it by adjusted the "Inductive Delay".

Please post more about your engine combo. The manual is very broad for a variety of engines. If you're running a SBC then you will need much more timing at idle.

Thanks for your reply. It's a BBC 396 with a Lunati cam. Not sure what the specs are. Engine was built 25 years ago. It had an 850 Holley on it. Decide to put Sniper on it. Trying to get it running. Getting timing right along with hard start problem. Engine has to turn over quite a few times to crank. Timing first and then cold start problem next. Thanks.

I misread your first post. You ARE checking Static Timing and it advances. I'm curious as to how much Inductive Delay you need to get it right. Keep us updated, should be a fun cruiser!
