Thread: Terminator Stealth Ignition Questions

    Default Terminator Stealth Ignition Questions

Hello. I own a Terminator Stealth EFI, 550-441, that I purchased new approximately two years ago. I was initially interested in installing a Dual Sync Distributor on my MK4 BBC restoration. But after reading several posts here, I think the HyperSpark setup (HyperSpark distributor 565-300, HyperSpark coil 556-152, and HyperSpark ignition box 556-151) would be a better match. The info I've read says these items are plug & play with the Sniper EFI, but are they also plug & play with the Terminator Stealth? The engine will be run on a Dyno and while and I’d like to have her run on the EFI with the ignition system. As long as it’s plug & play, perhaps this can be accomplished. Thanks in advance. Joe

Thanks Danny, I’ll call to ask and post results here, for posterity. Another question, like I said earlier, I purchased the Stealth two years or so go. Is there any way to know what software version was loaded? Not sure how behind I’ll be, update-wise. Joe

EFI Software & ECU Firmware Versions:
EFI SOFTWARE: Click "Help" tab (top toolbar) & "About Holley EFI".
ECU FIRMWARE: Click "Sync With ECU" & "Get ECU Info" (Key-on/USB connected).
The latest EFI software & ECU firmware can be downloaded here:
    https://www.holley.com/support/resou...Fuel_Injection (Holley EFI Technical Library)
http://documents.holley.com/techlibr...rmwarerev1.pdf (How To Update ECU Firmware)
Before updating firmware, ensure the current Global File is saved somewhere, since it will be erased from the ECU.

Danny, once again, thank you. My EFI is not installed yet, so I suppose I won’t know just how behind my ECU is until she’s installed. That will be at least a month or so. Joe

OK, just got off the phone with a Holley Tech Service. The HyperSpark is not plug & play, unfortunately, with the Terminator. The Dual Sync Distributor is. According to the Tech, I’d have to cut the plugs off the Stealth and distributor and wire it with high quality plugs. Like I said, I’m a bit out of my comfort zone with the electronics and tech aspect of my fuel system and I have no road map to converting the harness to work with HyperSpark.

The tech has a Stealth build so he told me what he is using. It’s the MSD 6EFI with rev limiter turned to zero, and the MSD SS Blaster coil. Do I absolutely need the EFI ECU to control my timing? No, but it can so why shouldn’t I let it, right? Has anyone converted the harness on the Stealth to work with the HyperSpark box and distributor? If so, can you share details? I find the instructions on the Dual Sync confusing. Joe
