I installed mine in the air intake before the throttle body, works great.

It’s my understanding that for the GM stuff, the IAT sensor is part of the MAF housing. I’m not sure if you can split it off to separate the sensor from the meter. Someone correct me if I’m off base.

I'm referring to using the Holley EFI MAT/IAT sensor in place of the OEM sensor & location.

Correct. The OEM sensor is part of the MAF housing. No MAF sensor, put it in the air intake tube.

I know this is an old thread, but I’m having trouble finding this thing. Everything I’m reading is like who’s on first. So let me start this up again.
    1) Is there a MAT sensor on a Gen 3 5.3L truck intake?
    2) If yes to question 1, where is it?
    3) If no to question 1, is the MAT sensor needed?
    4) If yes to question 3, why isn’t it listed in the documentation like the suggested fuel pressure transducer?
    5) If not using the MAT are there other options that accomplish the same measurements and how do they work?

Yes, it's for the Air Temperature Enrichment % table (LINK).
FYI: The Holley MAT sensor is 3/8" NPT (LINK), and the Haltech MAT sensor is 1/4" NPT (LINK).

The MAT sensor options are listed in the Sensors ICF drop down menu.

If you're referring to a stock vehicle.
    1) Yes there is.
    2) Included in the mass air sensor housing. Mounted in the air intake tubing.

If it helps, on my engine I threaded the hole for the EGR solenoid. Puts it just behind the throttle body. Not sure if it's the right spot, but it was easy. I didn't have one on my setup because the donor intake stuff was off an L59 flex fuel with IAT built-in to the MAF, which of course I'm not using. So mine is now a MAT. I did end up putting in a small correction on the temperature, like -3° to get it calibrated there at idle.
