Thread: V4 to V5 for dummies like me.

Default V4 to V5 for dummies like me.

Back story, LSx 6.0L, engine was reading low oil pressure, but mechanical gauge showed good pressure.
Running the V4 30 build, only had three choices for OP sensor, GM wasn't one of them.
So I noticed V5 now had the GM sensor listed, so against my better judgment I tried to
figure out how to put my V4 tune into the V5, but somehow I wiped out the entire V4 deal.
I tried to reinstall the V4 in hopes of doing a ECU to laptop and get it back, but no go.
I think I have the V4 tune in the V5 now, so I need to know how to install the V5 into
my ECU. Holley used to have instructions on how to, but now just show downloads.
If someone could give me step-by-step to load the V5 would be great. Fortunately I have the
original stuff on a tablet as a backup I carry in the truck, if worse comes to worse, LOL. Thanks.

I was able to get the V4 back and reload the tune from the ECU, but now I need to load that tune onto the V5. I tried diff things but can't figure that part out. I made a copy of the tune and labeled it -1 so it would be easier to find.

Your Global File is in the "Documents", "Holley", "HEFI V5", "Global Files" folder (.hefi file).
Your Datalogs are in the "Documents", "Holley", "HEFI V5", "Datalogs" folder (.V5.dl file).

Well I have really messed it up now as expected, it wouldn't load the V5, and won't communicate. With the V4, so now I have a non running truck and no idea what to do. I tried downloading the V5 140 build, not sure where that went. At this point maybe I can get someone to remote in and get it back up, hopefully. All of this just to try and get the factory oil pressure sensor to read correctly.

UPDATE: I tried the V5 again and it almost went, but stalled and wouldn't go any further. So I tried the V4 again and it started communicating with the laptop. So I tried to reinstall it and it went, truck started and old tune back in, so I used the oil pressure offset to match it with the gauge. I just hate losing four years of tunes, LOL.

Make sure you're updating with V5/140 firmware update!!!

It fixed the BAM Header errors and stops, and fixed the CAN Bus and improved the USB connections. My 2 cents, Mark.

Just keep trying it. It took 3-4 attempts before it took for me.
