Thread: MSD 7564 Relay Bank

    Default MSD 7564 Relay Bank

I’m using the MSD 7564 solid state relay for my fuel pump. They state that it's thermally protected, and short circuit protected, so I’m assuming it does not have to go to a fuse panel, or should I add a fuse? Thanks for any advice.

The instructions (LINK) illustrate the main battery connection is direct from the battery (no fuse).

Sorry, I wasn’t clear with what I was asking. That's how I have it. For example on the circuit out to the fuel pump, I was wondering if I should wire the fuel pump to a separate fuse. According to the instructions, they're short circuit protected. (I guess internal fuse for each circuit going out.) I’m just kind of old school with actually seeing a fuse in the circuit. It would be much easier to run the wire directly to the pump. Thanks for your reply.

I called MSD, they said I can wire straight to any accessories and the relay will protect the circuit in the event of short circuit. Seems to be a convenient way to simplify wiring.
