Thread: Super Sniper Fan Issue

    Default Super Sniper Fan Issue

I'm running the Super Sniper EFI. Is there a way to set a delay for the cooling fans when starting? When the car is hot and I go to start the fans come on and drop the voltage causing starting issues.

A custom cooling fan output (with an RPM trigger) can be created with the Terminator, HP & Dominator EFI. I don't know if this is an option with the Sniper EFI.

I spoke to Holley and the Sniper is not capable of doing this. I think my hot start issues are due to more than the fans.

Holley base calibrations (especially race cam) are way too rich and lead to hot start issues. Hot Cranking Fuel should be around what your idle fuel is. 7-8 lbs/hr is a good starting point.

I checked and the Cranking Fuel for between 180°-260° is at 7.5. When I try to start giving it throttle, it does nothing. I've had to change my fan on temps higher so they would shut off and then I can get it to start.

I've found the issue. My starter was going out. I replaced it with a high torque unit and not it starts no problem.

Yep, a bad starter will cause a bunch of issues for a Sniper since the bad starter will draw the voltage down really low, and then the Sniper will kick off or restart. Sometimes you can see this in a datalog. The voltage will drop down to 8 volts or less if the starter is hot or is bad.
