Thread: Terminator X On SBF

    Default Terminator X On SBF

    I'm looking into putting the Terminator X ECU on a 351 Windsor. Looks like in the EFI software, there's an option for 60-2 reluctor wheel and a Single Pulse cam sensor. Plan would be to use the Holley Hi-Ram intake that uses an LSx throttle body, and to use LSx Coil-On-Plug. Anything else that should stop this all from working?

    Yeah, those options should work fine. Are you using GM LSx or Holley EFI fuel injectors? Remember, the Terminator X EFI software is (currently) specifically designed for GM LSx components, so check every EFI software screen.

    I haven't bought anything yet. I want to make sure that it's possible before I start buying parts.

    Well, if you're doing something outside the realm of the Terminator X, contact Holley Tech Service (LINK) to be sure. Although investigating the Terminator X wiring schematic (LINK - scroll to end), installation manual (LINK) & EFI software (LINK) should answer most questions.

    Well now that Holley released the Terminator X for SBF, I don't have as much to figure out. I'd still like the use COP or CNP. Any ideas on how to do that since the SBF uses a distributor or Dual Sync?

    Coil-Near-Plug ignition is implemented the same way it is with the Holley HP, Terminator & Dominator ECUs.
    EST A-H (Cylinders #1-#8) CNP Outputs on the J1B ECU connector (Page 28: LINK).
    Custom Ignition Parameters, Output Setup: DIS Coil-On-Plug. Click "F1" for more info.
    FYI: In the current V1.0.5 TX software, the only non-LSx Crank Sensor Type is "60-2".

    If you have a Holley EFI non-LSx main harness application:
    The Holley 558-307 CNP main harness is for Holley's Coil-On-Plug smart coils and LSx ignition coils (nine terminated loose wires into J1B).
    If using Holley's 556-112 CNP coils, the Holley 558-318 CNP coil sub-harness is also required (or the Holley 556-128 CNP Big Wire V8 Kit).
    For LSx coils, Holley 558-307 CNP main harness plugs into two GM 12579355 CNP sub-harnesses or Holley 558-321 LSx coil sub-harnesses.
    IF you had a Holley EFI LSx main harness, you wouldn't need the Holley 558-307 CNP main harness or the 558-318 CNP coil sub-harness.

    My question seems to be related to this thread. I'm planning to put a 1999 Explorer 5.0 (GT40P) engine into a 1962 Falcon using the Terminator X for SBF. I plan to use LSx coils with the 558-307 CNP harness, but have questions on the cam/crank triggers. The 5.0L has a 36-1 crank wheel and what I assume is a magnetic pickup (2-wires) and a 1x (I think) cam position sensor that also appears to be magnetic (2-wire). Looking through the forums and products, it appears that I could use the 558-303 Magnetic pickup harness to wire these two sensors directly to the ignition breakout connector on the Terminator X SBF/Universal harness.
    So the first question is, will this configuration work as described? Or is there something I'm overlooking? The second question is that it doesn't appear that I can select this configuration through the Wizard on the handheld, but I can through the downloaded Terminator X EFI software. I there a way to run the Wizard through the EFI software? Or would I run the Wizard through the handheld and then go back and modify the ignition items through the software afterward? My concern is that if I don't use the Wizard, I need to set everything up manually in the EFI software and something may get overlooked.

    That's not necessary.

    Thanks! Using the OEM sensors appears doable, but not recommended.
