Thread: MAP Sensor Identification

    Default MAP Sensor Identification

Trying to figure out why my car is running extremely rich. Combo is a 582 BBC with front drive F2 ProCharger. HP EFI, multi-port with 120 lb/hr injectors, Wilson throttle body. I think I may have the wrong MAP Sensor. Invoice says Holley 3 bar no part number (bought from Steve Morris). MAP sensor is gray in color and has these part numbers on the sticker: G127 18219 732986.

That looks like a 1 bar MAP sensor.

Are you planning on making 1500 horsepower with 120 lb/hr injectors? Perhaps your injectors are too large for your application. Gary

Well it should make around 1500 horsepower. Steve Morris thought that 1300-1500 was pretty doable on pump gas at low boost. Below 15. I know the F2 is capable of over 2000.

Got the new MAP installed. It runs much better. BTW, the 3 bar is a black sensor, while the 1 bar is a gray sensor. You should also note that the 3 bar sensor requires you to change the weather pack connector. The pin-out is the same, however the groves in the plugs don't match. Also, is Speed Density the best Load Sensing for my application?

    Yes, that's why I wrote post #2.

Yes, some of Holley's MAP sensors include the connector.

    That or VE Based.

I used to use a Holley 2 bar MAP sensor, and that's also black. Just an FYI.

Yeah once the package is open and tossed away it's very difficult to identify these. I'm sure Holley buys them in bulk and repackages them. My problem was that my invoice from SME said it was a 3 bar, but it was in part of the order that was drop shipped from Holley, I guess someone missed the substitution somewhere.
