Thread: Mislead

After watching as many videos as possible and speaking with Holley, I'm getting conflicting installation directions. Would anyone possibly have the link to the CORRECT installation diagram for hooking up the Sniper to the MSD 85551 distributor (locked out) Blaster 2 coil, and MSD 6AL box? I want the Sniper to control timing. On the handheld, what should the rev limiter be set at for a mild cam 427? It shows 20,000 in initial setup. I'm sure that's not correct and would possibly cause acceleration problems from the start. I was thinking at 5500 to be conservative (grocery getter) street setup.

    Purple/green from harness to distributor.
White from harness to white (signal) on 6AL.
    Brown from harness to tach.
Do I leave the 2-pin plug from 6AL open, or is the purple auxiliary wire plug initiated.
    Thanks in advance. Stan

That's just the scale for the gauge. You can set your RPM limits in the software. It's in one of the handheld settings to adjust the display.

I was told that the rev limiter might slowly start limiting the RPM before it reaches the set point. Can anyone verify that?

That's not what it states on page 26: http://documents.holley.com/techlibrary_199r11259.pdf (Holley Sniper EFI Help Manual - EFI Software, Tuning & Datalogging)

Did you mean page 24? That's why I asked the question. So if I have my rev limiter set to 5500, does it go all out until it hits 5500, and then just won't let you go to 5501?
I found this post from you, Danny. https://forums.holley.com/showthread...5310#post45310. So does that mean the Sniper is a "hard" spark limiter? Thanks.

It's on page 26 with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. See description below.

"Rev Limiters - Description: The ECU will cut spark at any RPM above the “High RPM” setting."

I found this post from you, Danny: https://forums.holley.com/showthread...5310#post45310.
That doesn't apply to the Sniper EFI because it only has one type of Rev Limiter: "Spark, High Only".

So does that mean the Sniper is a "hard" spark limiter? Thanks.
    Yes, see description above.
