    Hi all. I have a car that started life as a factory TBI application with a lower-pressure fuel pump. When I pulled the TBI SBC out 25 years ago in favor of a BBC, EFI wasn't so affordable so I went carb and used a return side fuel pressure regulator to make the fuel pressure 'happy' for the carb (pump makes max pressure in the 15 psi range IIRC, so I regulate it down to 4-5 psi).

    Fast forward to now and I'd like to put a Sniper TBI unit on the car. Getting an in-tank pump that is capable of the needed 60 PSI is easy. Getting it into the tank is a pain in the butt without a hoist (3rd gen Camaro with tank above rear axle and no 'trap door' for fuel pump sender access). I have a buddy with a hoist, and was thinking of doing the higher pressure pump install (and the WBO2 bung install) on his hoist, but then driving the car home on the carb with the higher pressure pump regulated down to keep the carb happy before installing the Sniper...all to minimize time my car is in my friend's garage.

    Will the higher pressure pump be damaged or otherwise be made angry by use of a return-side regulator that regulates down to the 4-5 PSI that the carb needs? Any other considerations? Odds are, I'd at least start my drive with pretty low fuel level if that matters. I'd be driving about 35 miles from his place to mine and would likely fill up the tank after about 10 miles of that trip. Thanks!

    I've done that before, high pressure external EFI pump to a Holley low pressure bypass regulator. 6 psi at key on, or engine running, and 6 psi to redline. Pump quiet and no fluctuations in fuel pressure. Gary
