Thread: Dominator EFI combined with Power Grid 7720 ONLY.

Default Dominator EFI combined with Power Grid 7720 ONLY.

Hello. We're having issues with our current ignition setup (MSD 7AL2 & HVC2 coil) on our high compression engine (on lean AFR & high RPM the spark energy seems to be to low), so we're thinking about putting a Power Grid without the controller behind our Dominator EFI. Does anyone use a Power Grid 7720 ONLY in combination with the Holley Dominator EFI? I think the Dominator can control the Power Grid without the additional Power Grid Controller. Please share your experience. Thanks, Franz

Search the Dominator EFI forum for "Power Grid". This has been discussed before.

To be honest, I don't find a post that answers my question 100%. Of course, I've tried the search function before.

In my opinion, buy Holley's Coil-Near-Plug ignition system (LINK), instead of the Power Grid. You'll be glad you did!

102mJ is less than my old MSD 7AL-2 has, but yes, I've considered that option. Just need more Energy.

I was using MSD's 7531 & HVC2 and thought the same thing as far as the mJ. But you need to think of it has 102mJ X 8 = 816mJ.

Hello. We did it. With the Dwell Time table, we determined the multispark time. With an Advanced Table, I corrected the ignition angle. Is the interplay between Holley Dominator & MSD Power Grid planned in the future (without Power Grid controller)? My solution works, but it's not nice.
