Thread: No Cam Signal LS3

    Question No Cam Signal LS3

I have the Holley 550-603N kit on my 2008 LY6. I changed to 3 bolt cam with a 4x cam gear. 58x crank reluctor. When I System Log the RPM, I get a good crank pattern, but cam is a flat line. When cranking I get RPM signal for a second then it says syncing then error. What I've done:
    - Confirmed that my main harness is meant to plug straight into CMP sensor.
    - At cam connector I checked wiring, 5V on red wire (pin A), good ground on black (pin B), purple signal wire (pin C) traces back to A22 on connector P1A and is seated and locked properly in P1A.
    - Updated the ECU firmware to V5 and so I'm now using the V5 EFI software on my laptop.
    - Searched all forums found another similar issue where switching pins (A) & (C) fixed issue, tried but still nothing.
    - Set Ignition Parameters to Custom, turned (Cam Sensor) to (Not Used). Set injectors to (Paired) , fires up instantly and runs/starts flawlessly.
    - Tried a used CMP sensor that I had in toolbox, Nothing.
    - Bought brand new CMP sensor, still nothing.
    - On the GM CMP sensors when looking into connector end above each pin is labeled (+) (-) and (0).
Original location of 5V on pin A, ground on pin B, and signal on pin C matches the GM labeling. So I'm back to this pin-out, but I'm all out of ideas. What am I missing? Still a sensor issue? Thanks!

When everything is wired correctly, this is often a sensor air gap issue due to aftermarket parts (LINK, LINK & LINK).

OK, is there a spec on the air gap? I tried searching for it no luck. I have been using GM sensors. GM cam gear, Comp Cams cam.

The crank sensor gap is .030" or slightly less. I haven't heard of the cam sensor being any different.

Thanks Danny! I definitely have an air gap issue. I'll have it back together tonight & running.

Hi there, just wondering if it's fixed? What fixed it? I'm having a similar issue and I'm curious if too tight a gap would cause cam reading error as well?

A sensor air gap problem is almost always too much, not too tight.
