Thread: Getting my A/C to work with my Sniper EFI.

Default Getting my A/C to work with my Sniper EFI.

So this is my first post and I've been working on upgrading my 1993 K1500 Blazer with a new 383 stroker with Sniper EFI & HyperSpark ignition. My question is how do I wire up my A/C compressor so that it works with the OEM compressor relay that’s controlled by my A/C head unit? I know that I need to hook it up to the A/C IAC Kick input to keep the RPM up when the clutch engages, but still a bit fuzzy on just how I get my compressor wired up right before I hook it up to the Sniper. Thanks for any input you all might have.

Quick question then Danny. Do I just use my existing A/C compressor relay and wire it directly to the compressor? Or get a new relay where I can run the ground input to the Sniper for the A/C Kickdown? Wil

What do you mean by A/C Kickdown? The A/C IAC Kick or the A/C Shutdown?

Apologies, the A/C IAC Kick. I'm not running a racing rig, so I don't need A/C Shutdown.

Well the A/C IAC Kick function doesn't require a relay, although a preexisting A/C compressor clutch relay can be tapped into. If you need to convert the A/C signal wire from +12V A/C compressor clutch wire to Sniper's negative A/C IAC Kick signal wire (Input #1) with a relay, read this thread: posts #8 & #12.

OK then. So all I need to do from my existing A/C compressor relay that's controlled from my existing head unit is tap the ground for the negative (-) trigger to allow for the A/C IAC Kick function? How does the low pressure switch coming of the dryer/accumulator fit into this wiring job? Thanks again for your help Danny. Wil

Yes, if your existing A/C relay is ground triggered.

    It doesn't.
