Thread: Coil-Near-Plug for air cooled VW engine.

    Default Coil-Near-Plug for air cooled VW engine.

    Trying to find a link for adding Coil-Near-Plug to a 4 cylinder engine. I can't seem to find one. I have a air cooled VW engine with Holley Terminator 550-410. I want the ECU to handle my timing. I'm currently running MSD distributor, 6 BTM box, and 8253 HVC II coil. I know I need 4 coils, and a crank trigger, but I'm not sure 60-2, 36-1 or what? Holley 558-307 would be the coil harness I believe. Any help or links are appreciated.

    The crank trigger options are listed in the Custom Ignition Parameters. 1 Pulse/Fire (2x), 60-2, 36-1, 24-1, 12-1.

    If you already have or you're purchasing a new Holley EFI non-LSx main harness:
    The Holley 558-307 CNP main harness is for Holley's Coil-On-Plug smart coils and LSx ignition coils.
    If using Holley's 556-112 CNP coils, the Holley 558-318 CNP coil sub-harness is also required (or the Holley 556-128 CNP V8 Kit).
    For LSx coils, Holley 558-307 CNP main harness plugs into two GM 12579355 CNP sub-harnesses or Holley 558-321 LSx coil sub-harnesses.
    IF you had a Holley EFI LSx main harness, you wouldn't need the Holley 558-307 CNP main harness or the 558-318 CNP coil sub-harness.

    With the Dominator EFI, everything is sold separately. Use Summit Racing's shopping cart for a total price.
    The HP ECU only has four Inputs & four Outputs. If you need more than that, you'll need the Dominator ECU:

    So the 556-126 and the 554-124 would be my crank trigger? The 558-307 is my coil harness. I only wire half of this harness to the coils and set the correct parameters in the ECU?

    Yes, read the Holley 558-307 CNP main harness instruction manual (LINK), and wire ignition coils "EST 1-4 Outputs (Cylinders #1-#4)".
