Thread: Invalid GCF

  1. Default Invalid GCF

It's been a while since I've done it this way, so I must be missing something. I downloaded to handheld the tune from the ECU, took out SD card and loaded it into my laptop, edited the tune and saved it under a different name in the same folder, re-inserted SD card into handheld, chose "Upload To ECU", and it tells me it has an invalid GCF or something like that? P.S. I have V5 EFI software.

I don't remember (off the top of head) the exact navigation details of saving or uploading a Global Folder.
Add your revised Global Files where they're currently located in the SD card directory (ECU Globals/Saved GCF).

What version is in the ECU? It must also be the correct version & build.

I don't know the exact version, but I know I updated it the same time I updated the handheld to V5 also.

I think that's what I forgot. I was just saving the file, not the actual folder to the SD card.

OK, check it anyway. The Global File has to be in the correct FW0x00 folder. I can check mine to verify the correct folder, if needed.

Well wait a minute...there isn't an actual folder though, it's just a single .HEFI file or whatever right? And yes, I made sure it was going into the FW0500 folder on handheld.

Yes, the Global Configuration File (GCF engine file) is a single file (V4 & higher versions). The FW0x00 directories are folders on the SD card because they can contain more than one Global Configuration File.

Still having issues with this. I cannot save a file to the SD card, load SD card into handheld, and upload to ECU. Continuous "Invalid GCF ID" error. If I want to load a tune made from laptop EFI software. I have to physically hook up the laptop to ECU. Just updated both handheld & ECU to latest V5.100.
