Thread: Flex Fuel Setup

    Default Flex Fuel Setup

Have just installed flex fuel sensor and setup as per V4 instructions. It all works well, but I found it's adding fuel. Prior to adding flex fuel my Learn Table has had very little movement, but now it's adding between 5% & 8% fuel. The instructions say 0-34% fuel multiply, but doing further research everything else points to it being 0-63%. Which is correct? From my understanding with a well tuned base map, the flex fuel won't alter the Learn Table if this is setup properly, is this correct?

    Learn/Closed Loop is adding fuel.

The problem is you are assuming the original tune was 100% gasoline and 0% ethanol, which is rarely the case. Usually flex fuel Advanced Tables end up being around 45-50%. My guess is once Learn is done and everything settles down, going back to regular gasoline won't change anything. Usually gasoline is 5-20% ethanol, but it varies a lot.

Yes, I understand Learn/Closed Loop is adding fuel. What I don't understand is that the Holley instructions say scale the multiplier 0-34%, which then seems to through the tune off. Everything else that I read says scale to 63% for full ethanol, with E85 ending up around that 45-50%. The Holley instructions don't seem right. I'm in New Zealand, we don't have any ethanol in our regular fuel here. We only have E10 & E85 available from one fuel supplier. So base tune has been done on 100% gasoline. So once the multiplier scaling is setup correctly the Closed Loop/Learn should be minimal regardless of fuel?

So do you run the E10? If you do, that’s 10% ethanol. If that's what you tuned on originally, that’d be your “0” or starting point. All ethanol % above that would add fuel, all below would subtract. Best to go off of the stoichiometric for each ethanol value for the percentages and test your fuel.
