Thread: MAT Sensor Installation

    Default MAT Sensor Installation

Dear all, I'm quite uncertain how to proceed with the hardware installation for the MPFI, advise needed.
On my new intake manifold unfortunately I'm missing a port for the MAT sensor. Now I have two choices:
    1) Install the MAT sensor inside the air cleaner.
    OR
    2) Machine the (already built-in!) intake manifold to create an additional port (3/8" NPT).

First solution is easy to do, second solution creates a lot of work.
I'm in favor for solution 1 as TBI do have their MAT sensor installed in the TB entrance, before throttle blades (practically inside the air cleaner also).
By the way: The intake manifold (Edelbrock PN 29215) I use is air-gap style with no heat from an exhaust crossover (EGR).
Question: Is there any significant difference or disadvantage between the two solutions in a proper operation of a MPFI? Cheers, Martin

I prefer it in the intake manifold, but either option will be fine.
May God's grace bless you in the Lord Jesus Christ.
