    Default Tuning Question

    A question regarding where to go and how to address an issue: Engine is surging at part throttle (1-12% TPS) with small changes to TPS. Seems AFR swings rich with the slightest change to the TPS. Where do I look to address this? This occurs, for example, on the freeway in a high gear (5th or 6th) at a cruising speed when I make small changes in the throttle position to adjust speed. Thanks.

    Overlay the datalog onto your Global File, and pay special attention to the center paragraph in blue print:

    I find the most helpful datalog function, is overlaying the datalog on your Global File.
    I'm in the habit of using the datalog Overlay feature every time I review a datalog.
    Click on "Datalog" (on the top Toolbar), "Activate Overlay", then "Open Data Log".
    You can literally "playback" a recorded event, and watch it as it happened on any screen.
    Minimize (shrink) the datalog window, and move it to the bottom of any Global File screen.
    Then click & scroll anywhere on the datalog, and watch it playback on your Global File (EFI software).

    Danny I appreciate your reply. I followed as you suggested and was unable to spot anything obvious. However, while poking around settings related to AE and TPS, I stumbled across this:



    The other five tables under Acceleration Enrichment all looked 'normal'. Linear or curves. But the AE Correction vs TPS looks wonky to me. I suspect this is where my problem may lie. What should this table look like?

    OK, if I'm picking up what you're putting down, you're suggesting that my AE Correction vs TPS is setup for a progressive linkage. Just checked: Primaries open alone until 22%, then the secondaries start to move. I read through the posts you linked and pulled down the PDF from the EFISystemsPro.com website. Looked for the settings they talk about in the setup and found this:


    If I'm reading the PDF correct, I should tick the box for progressive linkage and enter 22% in the TBI 2-4 Switch setting. Sound right? Will this action alter the AE Correction vs TPS table?

    Yes, that's what you illustrated in post #3.

    Yes, but try it both ways, 1:1 secondary linkage and progressive secondary linkage. The Terminator TBI doesn't exactly have a progressive secondary linkage.

    Will this action alter the AE Correction vs TPS table?
    No, that has to be manually entered/copied. In other words, if you check mark "Progressive Throttle Linkage", then use the AE Correction vs TPS table illustrated in post #3.

    Under "Fuel System", "Injection Type" (TBI) & "System Type" (550-405/406), simply select your Terminator EFI part number and the EFI software will automatically populate the "Fuel Injector Information" fields.

    Gump, are you using a Terminator throttle body? The Terminator throttle body comes with four 80 lb/hr high impedance injectors, with a rated injector pressure of 43.

    OK, wow. Thanks for picking that up Rodman. The System Type was set to 550-402/412. When I make the correction to the correct System Type, what should I expect with regard to other settings I may need to "fix"? Is there a process I should follow once I make the change to System Type?

    Read post #8 again. Make the change and click "Save" in the Holley EFI software.
