Thread: Dim display backlight on IQ3 display dash?

Post Dim display backlight on IQ3 display dash?

I have a IQ3 display dash with a 8-pin plug on the back. With logging dash there's a wire lead for headlight signal to dim display. My dash apparently does not have way to dim. What am I missing here? In other words, how do you get dimming to work by signal from headlights? This is a race only vehicle and at night the dash is too bright, but just right during the day.

I used a USM for headlight input.

Yeah, Nigel is correct, you'll need to use some other kind of input channel to trigger the headlight dim. I'm using a SmartWire to power the headlights so it's easy to dim based on the headlights being on. But if you don't have that then you'll need a USM or similar generic input so that you can monitor the input and dim based on that input.
