IQ3 Crashing Windows 10

I have a IQ3 logger dash hooked up to a Smartwire and Haltech Elite. Communicating with the Smartwire has been fine but the IQ3 is a different matter. I have the 3.5mm IQ3 communication plug adapted to a cable which converts its to a USB cable. After turning on the dash, initiating the Datalink software, I hit the 'read' button. within a few seconds the laptop 'blue screen's' with the following code: Stop code: WDF VIOLATON . What failed: ser2pl64.sys

Can you provide a solution for this?
