    Default 8981 programble timing computer and no spark

    so I bought a 1983 lotus esprit turbo (carb car) with an msd timing setup on it.
    it had water in the oil so in need of an engine rebuild but ran perfectly fine.

    I rebuilt the engine (did not touch the msd setup) started it up the first time and it instantly cranked up and ran pretty good.
    I drove it around the block and it stumbled at low speed and light throttle inputs. so I figured timing.

    I talked to some hot rod guys about the msd and changing the timing they said just turn the dis

    so I did just that. turned the disturber to advance the timing and it got better but then the car just turned itself off.
    and now no spark. I can hook my timing light to the coil wire and nothing so no spark

    I have the 8981 programmable timing computer, a multiple discharge box, boost retard box, rev limiter box and the tachometer box

    my question is did I mess up bad by moving the disturber? or can it be fixed rather easy?
    I have no info for the msd setup in my car no instructions or anything. so any info and help will be greatly appreciated

    2.2L 4cyl turbo
    carburetors
    8:1 and 10 psi max

    Does the distributor rotor button spin when you crank the engine over?

    Help as to "walk" you through the "whole" installation that you took apart?

    How about you "read" all the instructions "first".
    Make a "plan" on "how you" want to set it up.
    Then some one can help.

    Blaming the ignition system before proving the mechanical is ok is bad practice.

    Time to check your cam timing, before you bend valves.
