Default factory tach off 1000 rpm

I have a msd 8360 dist. It reads 1000 rpm to high tested in with a tach & dwell meter. Do I need to use an adapter, if so which one do I need ? Tach is calibrated and is correct. THANKS RAY

The tachometer is a factory tach. The car is a 68 Chevy Camaro 396/325horse.
