Unhappy Power Grid Trouble recognizing Gear shifts using step retard 1-3

Timers activate relays to provide power to step retard wires 1-3. Have power to wires on activation. Operating system with MSD ignition tester 8998. The MSD view recognizes the step activation but does not change gears or timing to pre selected curves for each gear.
Why? It's new and replacing 75301. What did I do wrong?

Unfortunately, you have to have the engine running and use a timing light to see any of the gear/timing curves.

I'm having the same issue. The tester works when I use RPM drop. I can see the gear retard curve. We did have the engine running with a timing light and the timing did not change when we use the step retards as gear indicators.
