5462 btm question

Hello,
I am finally getting around to connecting my universal BTM to my Porsche 924 with a VIal ignition box. The turbo is currently only about 6psi, but will probably go 8-10psi this year. I still have the original Bosch distributor with vac connections to it. I wanted to double check the set up for the distributor.

Does the distributor have to be locked out, or can the vac canister remain connected?

you can use this with mechanical advance. but , on the vacuum advance ..( never really seen anybody you advance on a boosted application)

sorry maybe I said the wrong thing there - my distributor has the vac canister attached to the side - it has connections to the side of the throttle body and one to the brake booster

boosted engine with advance would not be the best case situation would it?

does that sound more correct?

does the vac advance on the distributor only occur at part throttle?

would that still be ok to leave connected?

depends...
you normally dont run boost and pump gas together....
because of timing and octane issues that can lead to detonation .

if you really want more control of the timing curve, i would suggest using a
programmable 6al p/n 6530

Sounds like one is manifold vacuum advance (brake booster) and one is pressure retard (throttle body).

Non-adjustable though, so you would do better with programmable retard like a 6530.
