Default Timing will not do what it's told to do. Has a mind of it's own.

598 BBC supercharged marine engine. I'm using Holley V4. Terminator dual throttle bodies. MSD 6AL. Holley 565-100 Dual Sync Distributor. My timing is not staying steady. For testing purposes, I've set the timing table so that the timing is 20° below 2000 RPM, and then from 2000-6500 RPM it's set to 34°. But the timing moves up & down and wanders around with RPM. It almost acts like the boost is influencing the timing. As I increase the RPM the timing begins to advance, but when I hit about 3500 RPM the timing suddenly drops back to 20° or so, and then crawls back up with RPM. What's going on?

Check your Inductive Delay: (Ignition Timing Synchronization)

Ensure there aren't any active 'timing modifiers' at this point (e.g. Timing vs Coolant Temperature, Timing vs Manifold Air Temperature, Knock Retard, etc.). Also, ensure you don't have any erroneously programmed "Warning Enabled Timing Offset" parameters in the "Sensor Scaling/Warnings" (System ICF) or in the custom Inputs (Inputs/Outputs ICF). If you're not sure, use the EFI software "Enable Static Timing Set" (in the "Sync With ECU" icon, drop down menu - top Toolbar).
May God's grace bless you in the Lord Jesus Christ.
