Try it with a loose length of test wire.
May God's grace bless you in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I have no knowledge of the Pantera tach, but it's fairly common to have older factory tachs read high when using an MSD box. There are several MSD tach adapter options, although Bdud mentioned what sounds like a great option if modifying a factory part is acceptable. My Camaro also reads about 300 RPM high at idle, and almost 1500 when I'm at a proper 5000 RPM. If you've ever seen a tuned port engine show 6500 RPM on the dash, you KNOW something is wrong!!! I've got the LCD touchscreen on the dash for when it matters, but I don't race the car, so I've left the factory tach for aesthetics. Might be something else, but at least it's worth a Google.

Customer is OK for now with the difference. But I'll try to do the loose wire to the tach if get the chance before he picks up the car. So I let you know what I find. Thanks, Max
