    I also set the throttle blades with the IAC @ 0% initially. Personally I get to hot idle, tape off the IAC and get it to idle 50-100 RPM below my goal. This makes it so the idle screw maintains the idle and not the IAC. Then I remove the tape from the IAC and use the idle screw to make an small adjustments. I've found doing it that way puts my IAC Position right around 5% every time and requires almost no adjustment. So long as your primary & secondary are synced up right, this has worked for me almost every time. Mine used to overshoot as well, increasing my time to ramp down and lowering my IAC Hold Position fixed my problem. The other big help was a carb spacer for my 331.

    I wish! I only have 1/4" between the air cleaner post and the bottom of my hood. And I really don't want to aerate my hood. :-)
