Thread: Coil Dwell Time

    Default Coil Dwell Time

I have an HP ECU on an LSx engine with a 58x crank sensor & 4x cam sensor. I'm using Holley 556-112 coils. Can I alter/adjust coil dwell time or is it preset/non-adjustable for this application? Thank you.

Yes, it's adjustable. That's what the Dwell Time parameter and/or Dwell Time table is for, once it's enabled in the CUSTOM Ignition Parameters.

Basically you need to select "Custom" Ignition Parameters.
Then you select the 58x crank & 4x cam sensor options (for your setup).
At the bottom of the page will be a Dwell Time setting.
You can then select to keep it as a standard single value, or you can use the 16x16 table.

In the Output Setup box, what's the difference between DIS Coil On Plug and DIS Coil On Plug (active low)? Thank you.

"Active Low" means ground triggered, as opposed to 5V triggered.

The Holley EFI V3 software/firmware introduced additional "Output Setup" options:
Points Output − Transmits a ground pulse trigger for a typical CD ignition box.
EST Output (5V) − Transmits a +5V square wave trigger to drive an HEI ignition module.
EST Output (5V active low) - ground triggered
    EST Output (12V)
EST Output (12V active low) - ground triggered
    DIS Waste Fire (5V)
DIS Waste Fire (active low) - ground triggered
    DIS Coil On Plug (5V)
DIS Coil On Plug (active low) - ground triggered
