Thread: What's the ideal engine for a Terminator ECU plug & play?

Default What's the ideal engine for a Terminator ECU plug & play?

I currently have a Terminator ECU with transmission control in my '71 Camaro. My engine is a Frankenstein of parts over the years starting with a stock 2003 5.3L truck engine from a Chevy Silverado. It currently wears a LS6 intake, LS1 injectors, LS1 coil pack, LS3 throttle body with adapter, LS3 DBW pedal, etc. 4L60E Transmission is from a 2003 V6 Colorado I think, along with the torque convertor, Corvette servo.

I'm in the market for a new drivetrain and at this point, I think I would like to get a complete running low mileage engine/transmission combo from a wrecked car. It would have to be something with a low intake, so truck motors are out of the question unless I swap intakes. I'm really wanting to drop in a complete "factory matched" drivetrain this go around and not start adding rogue parts.

Having said this, is there a stock combo that is more "user-friendly" to the Terminator ECU? Would it be an LS3? From say a 2010 Camaro? Something the engineers had in mind when building the software? I might be over-thinking it, just wanting to open some dialogue to discussion. Thanks again.
