Thread: Transbrake wiring to protect ECU, or is part 554-128 needed instead?

  1. Default Transbrake wiring to protect ECU, or is part 554-128 needed instead?

    I have my transbrake in the car already and previously wired, but want to change some things and make sure I'm doing it right to protect the ECU.
    I have drawn a diagram (cleaner then last, LOL) of how I may consider installing mine if it will protect the ECU, or is this incorrect and I need to use 554-128 instead?
    Also, the main power wire that I will be running from the battery with an inline 40 amp fuse to power the 40 amp relay, can it be tapped to run a 2nd 40 amp relay to power my coils?
    What gauge wire is recommended? This also will be tapped into the ignition for +12V switched.
    Or run separate wires fused directly to battery for each 40 amp relay. One for transbrake/gauges and one for the CNP smart coils?

    Yes, if it's a heavy gauge wire, such as 8-10 AWG (depending on length).

    Or run separate wires fused directly to battery for each 40 amp relay. One for transbrake/gauges and one for the CNP smart coils?
    This would be the best way. Depending on the Dwell setting, the CNP coils can draw up to 40 amps themselves.

    I'm horrible with this stuff. Sorry Danny, I try to draw stuff out because when I read it, it all gets messed up. Slow learner I guess, LOL.
    I included an revised diagram of the last one, except added the transbrake module. Is this correct?
    Also, since I don't on plan on buying the 558-400 harness right this second, can I just run the blue wire from
    transbrake module tapped into A3 from P1A right near the Input/Output connector on 558-104 main harness?

    Yes, all the wires from the Holley 558-400 Auxiliary I/O Harness run to the J1A & J1B ECU connector anyway.

    To connect up to 4 Inputs & Outputs to the EFI Main Harness, use I/O Auxiliary Harness 558-400.
    Eight Wire I/O Auxiliary Harness Connector Pin-Out (also in the Holley EFI Wiring Manual - LINK):
    Pin A...A12...White/Blue (Input #1) F,5,2,T,H,G
    Pin B...A3....White/Red (Input #2) F,5,2,T,H,G
    Pin C...A13...White/Black (Input #3) F,5,G
    Pin D...A4....White/Green (Input #4) F,5,G
    Pin E...B12...Gray/Yellow (Output #1) H,P+
    Pin F...B11...Gray/Red (Output #2) H,P+
    Pin G...B10...Gray/Black (Output #3) G,P−
    Pin H...B3....Gray/Green (Output #4) G,P−

    The 558-400 I/O Auxiliary Harness is 20 feet long.
    It's "plug & play" into the main harness, and an easy way to connect common things like an electric cooling fan (LINK).
    This I/O Auxiliary Harness isn't required for the optional oil & fuel pressure transducers, which are also "plug & play" into the main harness.
    The oil & fuel pressure transducers are used for Data Monitoring, Data Logging and setup Outputs based on oil & fuel pressure.

    Yes, but the red wire is supposed to connect to the +12V side of the transbrake that's powered only when the transbrake is activated.

    Is the blue input wire the one now used for it to be activated? I’m confused here. If it is, then my transbrake doesn’t work.
