I have a 12-327-11 fuel pump feeding a 750 CFM HP Body blower carb (0-80576S). Fuel pressure gauge that is threaded into the post-pump pre-carburetor filter housing (Summit steel fuel line and filter assembly) shows 9 pounds.

Fuel pump specs state that it's not supposed to allow more than 7.5 - 8 pounds and states that it does not need a pressure regulator. I believe the HP body carburetor's information state that the needles can handle up to 7.5 pounds of fuel pressure.

Is this a common discrepancy with these little inline gauges? Do these mechanical fuel pumps typically lose their ability to regulate and exceed their specced limit?
