  • Ricky Richter's Mopars

Ricky Richter is a veteran of Holley's tech service department. During his time, he has accrued a couple of awesome pieces of Mopar muscle.

This is Ricky's 1968 Plymouth GTX. While a lot of gearheads have a tendency to buy and sell cars at a breakneck pace, Ricky has owned this car since 1977. This car is a numbers matching example with 88k miles on it. Ricky did install a Six Pack carb and intake setup on it, but has since reverted to the orignial Carter AVS 4 bbl that was restored right here at Holley. The 440 cubic inch, 375 horsepower engine is 100% original, having never been rebuilt. It is mated to the original Torqueflite 727 transmission.

While having an awesome all-original GTX like this is a cool enough story on its own, this particular car has had a few minutes of fame in its life. It was featured on Muscle Car TV in July of 2009. It doesn't stop there though, as it also graced the silver screen in two music videos, Diamond Rio's "Walkin' Away" in 1997 and Hank Williams Jr.'s "That Ain't Good."

Admittedly, the GTX doesn't get a ton of miles put on it, tallying only 4000 between 2010 and 2015. However, Ricky picked himself up another Mopar to play with. His 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T fills the fun weekend car role. It is equipped with the 5.7 liter Hemi, backed by a manual six speed transmission, and topped off with a custom shaker hood.

I take it that is a 440 auto, 8¾ car? Very cool!

That is correct, with a 3:23 gear. Thanks.

                    Bad GTX

It does have a lot of torque, and is hard on tires. Thanks.

                        Blue

Hi, it was built in August of 1967, so it has the early color QQ1 blue. B5 was later. Thanks.
