Thread: Holley 12-1400 Pump Repairable/Rebuildable?

    Default Holley 12-1400 Pump Repairable/Rebuildable?

I was losing fuel pressure during WOT (which is REAL bad for a boosted motor). The primary pump which is always running, is very quiet - can't even hear it. I flipped around the wiring to see if the second pump is OK, and it does turn on, but it's loud!!! Not sure if this is why I'm losing pressure at WOT, but the noise part can't be good. Are these pumps repairable? Otherwise, thinking about getting a set of Walbro 255s, and moving on with my life.

What type of fuel are you using? Pump Gasoline, Race Gas, E85, Diesel, etc.?

Pump gasoline requires the Holley 12-1600 fuel pump.

The newer "pump gasoline" (hot fuel handling) Holley fuel pumps are Walbro (internally).
The E-85/Race Gas/Diesel capable Holley fuel pumps are made be Delphi (internally).
The newest Holley brushless fuel pumps are made by TI Automotive (internally).

Would of been nice if that was mentioned when I bought the sucker!

Pump that failed Sunday after about 20 gallons of E85 fuel through it (12-1400 pump). Holley's answer, buy a 12-1800. Nice.

That looks different than a Holley 12-1400?

It's a Delphi, has wires with colors like the new pumps. Externally, identical to the pics on YellowBullet 12-1800.
Looks like the center bearing seized, which overheated the winding. Bearing support was shattered.
Put a Walbro 340 in its place, seems good and just as quiet.

If that black pre-filter has conical seat AN fittings on both ends, that's probably why the fuel pump failed.

No, it was machined out on a lathe for proper flow.
