Alex Healey's 2001 Pontiac Trans Am

Hey guys & girls. I thought I'd share my project on here to go along with the rest of the Holley family. I have owned this car for eight years. It began as my daily driver in high school, and has evolved a lot since then. Prior to the current build, it made 530 horsepower and 498 lb/ft of torque at the wheels with a 408 cubic inch LQ9-based engine with a custom ground cam, AFR 225 heads, a FAST 90 mm intake, and much more. After awhile, I got used to that power and the 10.60 elapsed times it brought in the 1/4 mile at 128 mph. Without further ado, here is the current modification list:

    Engine:
-Forged LS2-based short block assembled by Late Model Engines (366 cid, 9.68:1 static compression ratio)
    -Trick Flow 235 cylinder heads
-Custom specced cam from Sanders Induction Solutions (243°/247°, .624"/.624", 115+4 LSA)
    -Custom headers by J&J Motorsports
-Custom turbo hot side, cold side, and fender exit exhaust by D3 Engineering and J&J Motorsports
-Custom air-to-water intercooler and radiator/radiator support by D3 Engineering
-Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake manifold with Holley 4150 4bbl throttle body and Extreme Velocity carb hat
    -LS9 head gaskets
-Forced Inductions Borg Warner S485R Turbo with ET-R HO billet wheel
    -Injector Dynamics 1300 cc/min injectors
-Holley brushless Ultra Dominator fuel pump and regulator
-Dedenbear CO2 system for boost control

    Drivetrain:
    -ATI Superglide 1 with transbrake
    -ATI fuel/blown series torque converter
    -BMR transmission crossmember
    -PST 4" aluminum driveshaft
    -Burkhart Chassis 9" housing
    -Moser aluminum center section
    -3.50 gear, spool, 40-spline gun-drilled and star-flanged axles

    Chassis/Suspension:
-Custom-valved Menscer Motorsports AFCO shocks front and rear
    -Burkhart Chassis lower control arms
    -Burkhart Chassis torque arm
    -Burkhart Chassis rear anti-roll bar
-Spohn chromoly tubular k-member and engine mounts
-10-point chromoly cage by Jessie's Garage
    -Weld-in subframe connectors
    -Madman SYA bars
-Aerospace drag brakes (dual calipers on the rear)

    Wheels/tires:
-Holeshot Revolver wheels, 15"x10" rear, 15"x3.5" front
    -Mickey Thompson 275/60/15 drag radials
    -Mickey Thompson front runners

    Electronics:
    -Holley Dominator EFI
    -Holley Digital Dash

    Body:
    -Wolfe Racecraft mini-tubs
-VFN Fiberglass pin-on cowl hood with DZUS fasteners

In this video, the car is equipped with a Holley Brushless Ultra Dominator fuel pump, which allowed us to push the car to 20 psi before the injectors were maxed out. This yielded 1,038 horsepower.

I'm glad you have the car back, and working towards making it better.

Thanks Derek, it has been a long time coming. Can't wait to get it all together and start making some track hits in the future.

This is one inspiring build! My buddy will take a new Trans Am project right after we finished installing the new brake pads and ion wheels on his truck. I'll show him this build.
