Thread: Holley 950 HP

    Default Holley 950 HP

I have a HP 950 on a 496 stroker in a jet boat. Having some idling issues. Talk to Tech Support, they said to change out the power valve to a 4.5, and set the idle through the stud hole not the base plate. So I pulled off the scoop, and there's no adjustment screw in the stud hole, aka, where you would bolt down a air cleaner. So different carb maybe, or am I missing something?

We need a little more information then "HAVING SOME IDLING ISSUES". Is it dying? Loading up?
Was something changed or did something happen prior to the poor idling issues.
The recommendation to change your power valve to a 4.5 would be assuming you have low
vacuum motor with a high power valve now causing the power valve to flood out the idle.
This would have been happening all along if you have never messed with your power
valve previously. Either that or be looking for a reason why you would have lower vacuum.
Give us some info and we will try to help you.
    Thanks, Sean

It is a common misconception that a open power valve will affect your idle.
The power valve feeds the main well, which feeds the boosters.
The idle restrictor feeds the idle well that feeds the idle circuits.

Well, if the main well is overfilling, it will drip out of the boosters at idle, causing an idle issue, but would be quite noticeable if watching the booster at idle.

Usually, the only way you get fuel dripping out the boosters at idle, is if the high-speed air bleeds are plugged.
