Thread: Fuel Pump Relay

    Default Fuel Pump Relay

    The instructions say connect one of the red wires to the pump, and the other to the battery. Does it make a difference which one?

    Which instructions? The 534-134 fuel pump relay kit?

    Does it make a difference which one?

    6. Connect one of the Red wires to the Positive wire (Red on Holley pumps) of the fuel pump.
    7. Attach the in-line fuse holder to the remaining Red wire. After attaching the fuse holder, insert 15A fuse and connect to the positive side of battery.
    The other thing I noticed is it's constantly running now. Where as before with the harness trigger wire, it would "prime" & stop. That normal?

    It doesn't necessarily matter because terminals #30 & #87 can be reversed.
    However, it's preferred to wire the fuse before the relay, so it's also protected.

    That's because the additional Fuel Pump Relay is wired slightly differently, if operated by the Holley EFI system.
    The (+12V) green fuel pump wire from the Holley EFI System Relay, now energizes the Fuel Pump Relay (green/black wire).

    I realize you wired the fuse in...it's used in both wiring methods. It's how the relay's coil is wired (triggered), that implements the 5 second Fuel Pump Prime time.

    I think I follow you here. So instead of running the green from the relay to switched +12V, use the Holley trigger wire instead?

    Instead of connecting the green/black wire (from the 12-753 Fuel Pump Relay Kit) to switched +12V, connect it to the Holley EFI green fuel pump wire.

    Default Green & Black Relay Wires

    Got to looking at my 12-753 fuel pump relay kit. The #86 terminal has the black wire and #85 terminal has the green wire. My question, do I still put green wire to the Holley EFI green fuel pump wire? The paper come with it shows that #85 terminal goes to ground. Thanks for any help.
