-6AN wrench doesn't fit the hose end nut.

-6AN wrench doesn't fit the Earls hose end side. What size AN wrench do I need for this end?

As you've found out, the AN wrench is for the B-nut, not the socket.
-6AN is an 11/16" wrench. The next size up -8AN, is a 7/8" wrench.
When assembling the hose end, it's common practice to wrap the
socket or wrench/vise with masking tape, to avoid scratching the fitting.
